Gallery Girls Recap: Brooklyn and New Jersey and Long Island, Oh My!

August 23, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps, television

Blerg. I wasn’t going to watch this again, but since my new best friend Maggie replied to my tweet (Hey girlfriend!), I feel obligated to see this through to the bitter end. That means here we are again, ready for our blood pressure to rise at the very idea of girls of privileged means being forced to work *gasp* WORK! for no money and even less respect.

Also, there has been an incident with a real live intern and I think that it can be a teachable moment for young people. Let’s start with the real intern issues before moving onto the fake reality television intern issues. Read the rest of this entry →

Gallery Girls Recap: I Weep For Humanity

August 15, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps, television

Welcome to the first episode of The Real Housewives of New York, Junior Edition. It’s just like the regular Housewives, only with 97% less life experience and a splatter of paint. The show follows the careers of [counts them] six or seven young women who are working very, very exhaustively hard to make it in the cutthroat art world. No, they’re not artists. They’re gallery girls. What is a gallery girl? Apparently it is a recent college graduate who procures an internship at an art gallery while her parents foot the bill for her frivolous lifestyle. Or, as one girl puts it, “You work for free until somebody one day says we’ll give you a job.” I’m only 30 seconds into the show and I already hate everyone on my television screen. Miss Advised Recap: Leaving So Soon?

August 7, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps, television

Well it was a long slog, but we’ve finally reached the finish line. Sadly, there are no gold medals waiting for us, just the sick, empty feeling of a fourth place finish and a Certificate of Participation. This was the very last episode of Miss Advised. Did our three lovely ladies find love? Or a reasonable facsimile? Well, duh. No, probably not. But that’s what makes it fun for us, the viewers. Read the rest of this entry →

Miss Advised: Donkey Rides A Horse And Acts Like An Ass

July 10, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps

Sigh. Here we are again, back for another round of punishment. In this week’s episode, the three ladies continue their quest for real love on a fake reality television program. Read the rest of this entry →

Miss Advised: Tears Of A Clown

July 3, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps

We’re back! I know, I can’t believe it, either. But here we are again, basking in the glow of reality television and pointing and laughing at its newest starlets (pronounced “sterlits,” like “terlits”), Emily, Amy, and Princess Julia Allison, of the Kingdom of Narcissism. Miss Advised: Yes, You Really Are That Repulsive

“Miss Advised” Is An Understatement

June 19, 2012 in Fameballs, Recaps, television

Welcome to your first (and probably only) recap of Julia Allison’s television realitorial debut, Miss Advised, where Ms. Allison and two other sad, lonely women play dating advisors who are single, a few years past their prime, and can’t seem to follow their own advice.

Let’s get the also-rans out of the way before letting that big, tasty spotlight shine on our old friend Julia, shall we? Read the rest of this entry →

Spend An Evening With Unfun, Miss Linda, and Julia Allison

June 14, 2012 in Fameballs

UPDATE: Due to a scheduling conflict mostly consisting of Julia Allison not even warranting a decent timeslot (seriously? Monday at 10 p.m.?), tonight’s liveblog will now become tomorrow’s recap. Thank you for your continued attention to all Julia Allison-related matters. Carry on.

Vapid human muppet and Professor of the Learning Annex Julia Allison has been working very, very hard. At what, I’m not quite sure. But what I do know is, in July, 2008, she was super duper excited about her reality television show. What’s that you say? It’s 2012? Oh, ha, yeah, well, reality television shows are really complicated.

But behold! On Monday, June 18th at 10 p.m., Julia Allison’s opus Miss Advised will premiere on the Bravo channel, and Unfun and I will be there to mock the living daylights out of it. We are teaming up to give Julia Allison the recognition she so richly deserves by hosting something between a liveblog and a commenting free-for-all. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how this works. We will be in the same room together, so typing to each other seems weird and antisocial. *Gasp!* We may be the embodiment of nonsociety! Naturally, the evening will be assisted by copious amounts of alcohol.

Please join us at Wordsmoker Monday night at 10 p.m. with your scathing commentary. Afterwards, I will forward our collective oeuvre to Ms. Allison via the Twitters because I think deep down, she really kind of misses us.
