1.) I have been recruiting an army of (Hot) Non Profit workers. We like to go skinny dipping and talk about the unstoppable turquoise sexuality.

2.) I’ve started going to a cruisy gym for low income humans. The thought of remembering really sort of sickens me at this point, in long term memory, and muscle memory alike; I like to do my cruisy workout with my eyes closed. It is nice and refreshing to discover the value of bodies all over again (especially if you were a dumbfuck, like me, last time you were in shape).

2. Recently, I’ve realized what it would take to push me over the edge—whatever that means.

3. Greyson Stone told me that all anger is derived from fear. I think about that all of the time now.

4. I started out tonight drinking cheap wine and then moved onto cheaper wine. (Hence the parenthetical phrase in the title.)

5. My father encouraged me to study Latin in college. I learned enough to know that the V’s in “In Vino Veritas” are pronounced like W’s. My pronunciation of that phrase is deadly accurate. Read the rest of this entry →

1. The day I turned twenty-one, I woke up in Amarillo, TX and went to bed in Taos, NM. Jerry Garcia died that day, and my favorite dog got slammed in the face by my un-boxed birthday cake in an accelerating minivan.

2. At the field hockey end-of-season awards dinner of my junior year in high school, I heard the name of every varsity player called at least once before I heard mine. Two hours into this humiliating experience, disappointed that my father had taken time out of his day, sensing ants in the pants of everyone around me, the final award was called for me: Unsung Hero. They made me a metaphor for myself as I helped close the ceremony to the sound of two hands clapping. 3. I have never put together a “20 Things About Me” list, partially because I feel strongly that there are not twenty interesting things to say about me.

1. I had a six-cup-a-day coffee habit and quit, cold turkey, about three years ago. I haven’t had a drop since. That doesn’t mean I don’t want a perfectly pressed cup of coffee made from freshly roasted Stumptown beans, but I can’t trust myself with it yet.

2. I’m a New Yorker, a downtown girl. I can go for months without ever traveling above 14th Street.

3. I’m writing a book.  It’s got vampires.  I’m six chapters in and I think it’s pretty cool.  A very small number of people have been allowed to read what I’ve written so far. I’m projecting twelve chapters, so…halfway done?  Yay?

1. Recently I was repeating the dumbest thing in my head for like two hours at home… oh, it was something not very funny someone said on Facebook.

2. When that happened, it was the closest I’ve ever come to understanding nihilism.

3. But then I remembered that I was going to reread One Hundred Years of Solitude, and that I have two trips coming up, and how much I love airports.

4. I wish city bars were like airport bars, or that I felt the same in them as I feel in airport bars.
