This past week was the “national celebration of the freedom to read” known as Banned Books Week, organized by the American Library Association annually since 1982. Libraries and bookstores across the U.S. supported intellectual freedom by featuring books and other materials that have been banned or challenged by those who don’t want certain ideas to spread. As a new feature this year, people were encouraged to upload videos of themselves reading from such works to a special YouTube channel.
