An Extension! News About the Wordsmoker Short-Film Competition
May 27, 2012 in Wordsmoker Short Fiction
So it went something like this:
Chillbear: “I’m going to be cutting it close to the wire; my actor is in Milan.
Virus: ” — ”
Chillbear: “I hope to start filming soon. I want to get rid of all of this body paint.”
Virus: “Whatever.”
Chillbear: “I don’t really want to give anything away, you see, but I think this will be like his early work. You know: Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands. Something of the vein.”
Virus: “What the fuck are you talking about, you stupid cunt?”
Chillbear: “Kubrick movies. I wasn’t going to pull a Planet of the Apes out of my ass.”
Virus: “You suck on so many different levels. Tim Burton directed those films, you idiot.”
Chillbear: “Fuck. What did Kubrick do?”
Virus: “Lolita and Barry Lyndon.”
Chillbear: “I’ve never even heard of them. Anything else?”
Virus: “Nothing comes to mind.”
Chillbear: “I need an extension.”
Virus: “Go fuck yourself.”
Chillbear: “Seriously, I’ve already got about $5k invested in this thing.”
Virus: “Whatever. Maybe some real people would like some extra time.”
Chillbear: “Yay!”
Something like that. I may be exaggerating Virus’s gentle tone. I do often try his patience. Anyway, we are extending The First Wordsmoker Short-Film Competition deadline by exactly one week. That means that whatever was happening this Thursday is occurring on the next at the exact same time. Everything else still applies.
Closing date for the competition will be Pacific midnight, Thursday, June 7, 2012.
The gods of short amateur cinema have given you a reprieve. Use it wisely.
