#stupidplanes

October 2, 2011 in Wordsmoker Poetry

i can hear you
roar-whoring in the background
underneath all this radio
and television babble -
jets ramping up, shutting down
folks leaving, off-fucking-flying, somehow getting out
of this
no horse town
#stupidplanes

i can hear you
mucking about
from miles away, you know -
it just depends on
how the cold wind blows
and how my sunday goes -
tonight
i might take out the garbage and listen
maybe think about all the lands
i’m currently missing
#stupidplanes

oh, air travel
i’m aware
of your persistence,
and resistance to cool shit
like the hover-cars
in blade runner
(i wouldn’t mind them at all
and they were promised long ago)
so i imagine the excitement
about traveling is tempered
with actuality
and probably a screaming infant
#stupidplanes

yeah
it’s twenty eleven and still no
household fusion generators
jetpacks or
whooshy-clear tubes connecting
impossibly tall buildings
to each other – steel and glass, and brother to brother -
tonight
it’s all famines and wars
and threatening irans
as i hear the sound of planes
discussing travel plans

“Roar-whoring” will now be a part of my vernacular.

I want a hover-car so bad that I can taste it.
