@ Nina Hagen:
I was in Chelsea Gardens on 23rd St. for ten years, and on 18th btwn 7 & 8 for another three before that. I’m assuming the fact that there’s a Mr. Hagen means I don’t have to worry if we had sex at some point in the late 90s…
The tape on the windows made me laugh. It doesn’t matter if it is inside or outside, it is a useless waste of time. The only people that still tape their Windows here are the snowbirds who came down too early. They are also the people who live in an evacuation zone; refuse to evacuate; and can’t understand why the police won’t come help them even though the winds have reached 50 knots steady.
Oh, the tape. My dad put brown packing tape on our windows during Hurricane Andrew, then cursed up a blue streak for two days when he couldn’t get all the adhesive off the window. Good times. Also, even though I know it doesn’t work, I’m tempted to put it on my windows since my landlord told me in no uncertain terms she had no plans to help me secure my place in the event of a storm. “I don’t even have a ladder that goes to the second floor to secure anything on your windows, sorry.” Oh, did I mention she lives in NYC and is probably shitting bricks about how to hurricane proof her place? Karma, bitch.
