Dear Virus, I am filled with admiration at the courage and initiative it took for you to get Wordsmoker up and running. I think you’re a great editor and I think you’re a really intelligent person who often has a great sense of fair play and human decency.

And I completely disagree with your decision here to make your disagreement with tigolbits not just public but into a post that’s all about public humiliation.

I understand that you feel horribly betrayed that she went to Gawker and cracked a joke or two about your calling her out on her use of lower case.

But I really wish you handled it differently. I feel very bad that you called her a cunt. I feel very bad that you mocked her body. And I feel very bad that you have mocked her and insulted her in public.

I cannot stand by and let this go. I understand that you might ban me and I understand that you might create a post about it and mock me and insult me in public like you have done with Tig. There’s nothing I can do to stop you from doing those things. And I will have no regrets because no woman deserves this unless she’s really evil. No matter what Tig did, she’s not an evil person.

It’s not right to call a woman a cunt and to mock her body in public just because she went to a rival website and cracked a joke about something here.

Thank you for your opinion. And your correct usage of the shift key. Some salient points:

I gave her fair warning twice in public about her poor form. She chose to ignore it, twice, then went to Alan’s place and started cracking jokes. Maybe she didn’t think that I’d notice, or that I don’t visit Alan’s, or somebody wouldn’t have pointed it out to me. Fair enough. But I did. And it was the last straw. Especially after insulting the writing on Wordsmoker without being constructive in any way. Anybody – any-fucking-body – who I think is putting off anyone else from contributing writing here is in my line of sight from now on, and that goes for people who actually contribute writing already, even those I consider friends.

She was being a cunt. Acting all cunty. Exuding a certain, but distinct air of what can only be called “cuntiness”. I’d given her plenty opportunities, but no – she just kept on cuntin’. And cuntin’ behind my back.

Now – the “body mocking”. Anyone – anyone – ANYONE – with a user name relating to her tits, or the size of her tits, will have that thrown back at them when they start acting like a cunt. If Tigol’s username happened to be “bigthrobbindick” I’d have done the exact same thing. Please – also see her profile picture on Facebook. Those who define themselves by their body parts open themselves up to this “mocking”.

And your “supportive community” statement? Tigol was plainly not being supportive. Hence her culling. And I don’t think people here are “high-fivin’” here, as you put it. I’m getting plenty of “thank fuck she’s gone” off-line – not one “oh, you shouldn’t have”.

I don’t know…I tend to agree with Wrap on this one. I don’t know all the backstory, of course, with Tigol but the tone seems really harsh. Virus, I adore you of course and I appreciate all the work you do here. I have to imagine that you were just really angry. Also, I do know that “cunt” is not as strong a word in the UK as it is in the U.S., so that might be why it reads as harsh. Here it’s pretty much the most foul word one could use to insult a woman.

In all seriousness, my heart is heavy in reading LG’s comment above. I imagine the “c” word is probably much less an insult in the UK than it is here, as here it’s the worst thing you can call a woman. So, I must admit I feel embarrassed that I didn’t say something before. Also, physical appearance isn’t something one can control, so it doesn’t really count in the things one can fault another for. I’m torn between my love and faith in Papa Virus and the man I know him to be in private, which is supportive and kind and understanding and there for you when you need him, as well as what I’ve known of him online, which is someone with conviction who stands up for others, and what LG said above. Also, it doesn’t help that I know LG to be just as good a man as Virus. So, I’m done commenting on this one because words just fail me. I hope it just goes away because I adore and respect these people and hope no further damage is done between them or on this beloved site. While I wear my two executions from Jezebel as badges of honor, I would be sadder than sad to be executed here. It’s a brutal process! I don’t advocate name-calling and body-shaming, especially in such a public forum, but I sense that there are things going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about. I also admit that my fear of humiliation has kept me from posting anything but comments; I guess the fact that I am not a particularly nice person has kept me from understanding the kerfluffle over LawyerGay’s comments on the SPP piece.

I have been trying to keep out of this whole things since it really has nothing to do with me or, let’s face it, most of us on this site. But I can’t sit out the whole time.

A) Anyone that talks that much about their own “tits” and then mocks others is opening themselves for mocking of their tits. If Unfun had been as mean and openly rude then it would only natural to make comment about her ass.

B) The lower case things was a little issue here! But my mother told me a good life lesson to live by “you can be pretty and mean or nice and ugly but you can’t by mean and ugly”. Granted my mother is obessed with what others think but I think it fits here. And I am NOT talking about physical apperance. That all lower case thing is not pretty. I can’t hate on that though since we all know my grammer and upper casing skills are HORRIBLE!!!

C) The dreaded “C” word. Really? Now I am not one to use harsh language often, I think that has to do with my Grandma washing my mouth out with soup when I was younger, but that word really doesn’t bother me. I see no reason why any one person should change their word choice because it might offend someone who finds that word to be the worst thing ever.

I hope we can all just accept that Tig is gone. Love it, hate it, whatever. If it helps think it like Survivor and Tig just got voted off. You couldn’t have saved her sitting at home wrapped in your snuggies and you might miss her or maybe you are glad she is gone but either way she is gone.

Don’t worry though she probably has peanut butter and oreos now.

Also please forgive my lack of grammer everyone. It is not that I don’t know all little grammer rules I just type really quickly and lack the focus to go back and edit. Also I may be insane.

@Lawyergay: I didn’t “mock her sexual attractiveness or her body”. I – politely at the time – re-buffed a sex chat, the re-buffing of which I believe has festered.

What I did mock was her ridiculous fucking username. Because it was so mockable. Because it related to the size of her tits – please, the more sanctimonious amongst you note this – you’re trying to defend someone called “Tigolbitties”. An adult female – who should really know better – called “Tigolbitties”. And, to clarify yet again (because who’d have thought a lawyer would pick and choose parts of a statement to get the angries about while ignoring the rest of what I’ve said) – I’ve never seen her tits, or the rest of her body – but when you go around with that name you open yourself up to derision when you start mouthing off and generally pissing everyone off.

I’m guessing your decision wasn’t related to the fact that your Author privileges got temporarily suspended, so I could be sure that you wouldn’t write anything “satirical” again. Completely unrelated, I’m sure.

A NOTE ON THE WORD “CUNT”

It’s got the same reaction over here, just to clarify. If someone, right after insulting the majority of the writing here without being constructive in any way possible (note how I let it fly) then cannot take advice in using THE FUCKING SHIFT KEY – TWICE - then goes and starts giggling about it on Alan’s site – then that someone is now exuding a general air of “cuntiness”, because they are acting, in my view, like a cunt. A cunt with a grudge. Doesn’t matter if they’re male or female – cuntiness has no defined gender boundary – cunts come in all shapes and sizes – the only common denominator is being cunty.

If anyone else wants to saddle up their high-horse and ride off into the sunset – giddy-up.
