Over the recent winter break, I had occasion to re-watch one of my favorite Japanese movies, Summer Vacation 1999 [1999?????].

Believe it or not, that wasn’t the first time I’ve heard the phrase “I think you is inside Kaoru.”

Vaquero: A subtitled DVD version doesn’t seem to exist (though maybe a bootleg out of Hong Kong will come out sometime?). New Yorker Films released it on VHS and, like most of their titles, let it go out of print and will neither put out a DVD version themselves or let anyone else do so (see also, Cruel Story of Youth, Tampopo, etc.). There are a lot of good Japanese and other foreign films that are almost impossible to get a hold of these days for this reason.
Adam: I included that still just for you. [btw: "Yu" is the name of the boy's first incarnation]

Oh! I know.
Back when my mother was running the local foreign student exchange, we had a girl named Yu. She got quite a kick when people would ask her name so she could reply, “I’m Yu.”
